Basri shoots Christian priest, reconstruction shows

PALU, Central Sulawesi (Antara): Basri, a terror suspect detained by the police, is allegedly the shooter of Priest Susianti Tinulele in Central Sulawesi capital of Palu in 2004. It was showed in the reconstruction of the incident on Saturday.
The reconstruction showed that Basri shot the priest at Effantha Church on Jl. Banteng, Tatura Selatan subdistrict, Palu Selatan district on July 18, 2004 after members of the group carried out a survey at the church.
Five suspects -- Basri, Haris, Irwanto Irano, Ardin and Papa Enal -- were involved in the reconstruction.
During the incident, Irwanto ride motorcycle, while Basri, who took M16 gun was on the backseat. Basri and Papa Enal entered church gate. Basri then entered the church and shot Priest Susianti, who delivered his sermon.
The religious conflicts in Poso reportedly killed some 1,000 people from both Muslims and Christians. Police recently arrested a number of rioters in a fatal shooting in the town. The suspects were charged with anti-terror law. (**) -->
